Jorge and Gemma are an amazing couple! Their personalities are every photographer’s dream which made this photo experience so memorable. Jorge took their relationship to the next level when he asked for Gemma’s hand in marriage in November 2013.
In April 2014, Gemma and Jorge traveled from England to Orlando, FL to shoot their engagement session. Dani and I were fortunate enough to be able to travel with Gemma and Jorge to 12 different Disney resorts in two days – which provided an amazing opportunity to capture some incredible photos with multiple backgrounds.
Usually, guys are shy and reserved when it comes to photoshoots but Jorge did his homework to surprise Gemma at this photoshoot. He did great and she totally loved it! Since Gemma was a little girl, her parents always brought her to the Walt Disney World. Since then, she knew that her wedding had to be done as well as any Disney fairy tale story. That fairy tale came true and we traveled to England in July 2014 to capture Gemma & Jorge’s wedding. We met everyone the day before the wedding. The coordination of the rehearsal was very efficient and it did not take us long to see that their wedding day would be one to remember. On the wedding day, the “Getting Ready” session was held at Gemma’s parent’s house on the Wirral Peninsula. The mood was very calm as Gemma’s family and her beautiful bridesmaids had everything under control. Gemma and her father (Richard) traveled in a horse and carriage, which led them to St Peter’s Church, Heswall. This was a beautiful church that has a view of the River Dee forming a boundary with Wales and England. Sarah from Ashcroft Carriages did a fantastic job – here is the weblink for this amazing service http://www.ashcroftcarriages.co.uk Jorge and his family who came from Colombia and the USA were waiting already in the church and when the bride entered with her dad, the emotion that Dani captured on Jorge’s face is priceless. One of my favorite shots. After a very emotional ceremony, friends and family were invited to enjoy ice cream cones; meanwhile, we took a small portrait session of the newlyweds surrounded by beautiful grounds of the church. Then, the carriage transported the couple to the reception that took place at “Thornton Manor”, (http://www.thorntonmanor.co.uk/) a charming country house in Cheshire, England that is a dream location – perfect for fairy tale wedding celebrations. The decor was very tasteful and it was clear that a lot of thought had been put into every single detail. Each table had been named after a different Disney resort and was decorated with themed props and photographs from the engagement shoot.
Gemma mentioned to me that she wanted to have everyone that was invited to the wedding captured in a single photo. It was my first time trying to put together a hundred plus English and Colombian guests together but we found a perfect spot where I could see all of them…the only problem we encountered was that Jorge the groom was missing for a few minutes but as soon as he arrived we got a great shot! With Jorge being from Colombia, it was not a surprise that their first dance was “Eres mi sueño” by a Colombian singer Fonseca but Gemma, impressed everyone with her Latin moves. They had a great time dancing and we were able to capture it as well as friends and family’s reactions. Jorge’s “worst man” Simon (he called himself that!), gave a strong but very funny speech as did Gemma’s father Richard. The night ended with a very nice compilation that well balanced between the band and the DJ. Gemma, Jorge and everyone including Dani and I enjoyed every second of it. The last picture we took was with them wearing their Disney wedding ear hats – which was a very nice touch and a fitting end shot for the day!
On Monday morning, Gemma and Jorge decided to do the “Trashing the Dress” session which is not that common in England. We were accompanied by their families and her dog Gipsy to Caldy Beach, a very beautiful place, with lavender flowers and an unbelievable view. Dani and I had an amazing time, thank you very much for entrusting us with your big day. We also feel very grateful because we felt so welcomed by your families during our stay. Here is a little taste of this wonderful event.
Amazing!!!!!!!! no more words.
